Meet Lelani.....

Meet Lelani......she turned 21 today.........

Lelani is my godchild and I am very very proud of her and love her to bits......

My only regret is that they live in The Netherlands and although we try our best to see one another as much as possible....it is days like this, that is very difficult for this sentimental old gypsy.......

We were lucky to have our whole family together in 2006....and it was my privilege to host her pre-21st birthday. It was a fancy dress (yes...we love dressing up...), and the theme --Ancient Civilizations -- We hired theatre props from the drama division of our nearest Technicon and had big tents that was decorated in different civilization styles......and of course the food had to fit the theme.........we even had fire dancers and the greatest folk music.......it was a stunning party and we had an amazing time........

Happy Birthday "My Lani"......vir my bly jy altyd die mooiste baba in die land.......

Happy Brithday to Leilani. She's lovely.

Just a bit of trivia... Harry Owens wrote the song Sweet Leilani which I believe won an Oscar. His own daughter is named Leilani (we can guess who the song was for). I know his widow and will actually be having lunch with her next month when I'm visiting another state.

Funny coincidence.

What a lucky godchild! And the party, oh my dear, how incredible you are, just amazingly beautiful.
I can feel with you regarding the separation over such long distances, I spent what feels like half my life on airplanes, trying to make up for it.

Wow, sounds like you had a super party! It's sad when we are so far apart from those we love - but it does make the times you come together extra special and enjoyable!

Isn't it great to have young people in our lives that aren't necessarily our children? Looks like it was a great party.
