Design Find: Kathryn Ireland

Textile designer Kathryn Ireland is known for her compelling mix of bohemian joie de vivre and English polish — as well as a client list that has included Steven Spielberg, Steve Martin and Caroline Kennedy — Few residential styles of architecture marry formal and informal qualities as easily as Spanish Colonial Revival with generously proportioned, eminently livable rooms....Kathryn Ireland loves this type of architecture and she herself lives in such a home.

"Spanish Colonial Revival houses may be big and grand, but there's something unpretentious and intimate about them as well," says Ireland. "It's probably my favorite period. It's where my passion lies." She recently restored a 1923 Spanish-style property by architect Wallace Neff in Ojai, California.
