Fantasy Finds: Fantasy Fashion........

I thought it was high time for a fantasy post ......... fashion and fantasy........and chose two designers from the Fall 2007 Couture Collections......

It was Dior's 60th anniversary collection.....and wow....what grandeur......the event took place at the Orangerie at Versailles and saw the reunion of supermodels like Linda, Naomi, Amber, and Shalom and Gisele .......John Galliano showed romance and delicacy, rather than his more familiar roaring theatrics, in a show inspired by painters, fashion illustrators, and photographers. The colours are ravishing........ palettes taken from portraits of women by the Impressionists, Dutch masters, Pre-Raphaelites, and the greats of the Spanish school.....( Images via Style .com with photographs by Alessandro Lucioni and Armando Grillo)

The selection of Christian Lacroix, was also fantasy eye candy of the highest order.......if you look closely, the ingredients that go into a single Lacroix outfit just shouldn't work.....take an overblown, patterned djellaba coat with a humongous collar of dip-dyed felt strips and ostrich feathers, two gargantuan strings of pearls, a lace jacket, and a jumpsuit, worn by a girl sporting a towering black wig with a straw hat perched on top.....it sounds like pure insanity, but this is the spirited, delightful, ethnic mix-up of Lacroix's selection.......( Images via Style.com with photographs by Marcio Madeira and Olivier Claisse)

the colors are so amazing together...they just make me smile. I'm in love with the red one there....not to wear, of course...just to put on a dress form and stare at all day.. :-D

What a feast for the eyes. It was like walking through a pageant os costume movies ranging from Age of Innocence to Gangs of New York, to Titanic, to Bram Stoker's Dracula. Amazing.

This is so amazing and beautiful...I think of dolls esp. Marilyn Radzad's.
I feel so sad that the Jean and
T-shirt has taken over...not that they are not great to use while doing dirty work...but everyday and everywhere *sigh*

Amazing styles, fantastic fabrics, and top class workmanship. Those of us who sew can appreciate what goes into creating clothes like this - if only the world were still the place where they could be worn!! It breaks my heart to see people in jeans and shorts at the theatre - that's one occasion where I always "dress up" for sure.

Great post - you find such fabulous things to share with us - thanks.

Beautiful things. Makes me wish that not only did I have enough money to buy something like those, but also a place to wear them.

It's art, not fashion! But hopefully some of the more whimsical and fae aspects of it trickle down into every day way. How fun.
I had to giggle at the last image, the one with the gold.... crown? It reminded me of a cross between a zombie and the Black Madonna in those festivals where she's carried. Just saying.

I am so happy you thought to add close-ups because so much detail is otherwise lost or missed. Amazing. I love the slippers on the head. :)
