French Find: Aurelie Alvarez

I was introduced to the work of Aurelie Alvarez through Cote Maison, which led me to her website.... I just lost myself in her art...LOVED IT!!!!

Aurelie is a French painter living in L’Isle sur la Sorgue . She and her family live in an ancient multi-storied home-some of which they have preserved in its layered state of beautiful decay.

Aurelie, was born in 1967, studied first for 5 years at the Beaux Arts School of Avignon, France. Her grandmother and mother as antics experts and dealers for generations in South of France introduced Aurelie to the 17th and 18th centuries' secrets and beauty... through her paintings, she is opening for us the doors of old castles full of treasures, pastels and romantics, presented in her personal modern way. Aurelie receives much of her inspiration from her surroundings... her studio is located in the attic above their living space. She's also influenced by Japanese blockprints and the theatrical wall decorations of the Baroque period.

You can see more of her work at her website, and at the photography site of Joanna Maclennan

Thanks so much for visiting my blog and your lovely comment! So happy to have you as a reader and to be one of your new readers!

Did you see my post on Manoush (gypsy in english). When I saw you blog title I thought of that.

I love this post, there is something so romantics about things as they get more and more aged, I love your description as "beautiful decay" That's exactly what it is.

There is already some new french goodness up on Bardot in Blue so check back soon!
